Gibbon PLUG & PLAY Solutions are designed to facilitate educators so that they can grow their business with ease. Apart from the necessary services to establish and operate an online business, Gibbon provides a variety of ‘Add-Ons’ (Optional Services) too. These ‘Add-Ons’ can provide a specific functionality for the business such as ERP Portal, E-Library, SSO, and more. Alternatively, Add-Ons can also provide a mean to promote the client’s business, and Gibbon’s ‘Refer & Earn’ Add-On is one such Add-On.
Refer & Earn, enables students to log into the client’s portal, and generate a ‘referral code’. This code can then be shared to to others. If a student uses this ‘referral code’ while Signing Up on the client’s website, both the first-time student and the owner of the referral code will receive pre-set benefits. Refer & Earn ‘Benefits’ can be set according to the client, and will be an effective marketing tool to bring more ‘Sign-Up’ traffic.
This article will guide clients and new users on how to generate a referral code, and apply a referral code.
Prerequisites
- Clients must have activated the Add-On service for the portal/website.
- To generate a referral code, the user must be registered on the portal beforehand.
- The student using the referral code must not be registered on the portal beforehand.
How to Generate a Referral Code?
To generate a referral code, the user must be already registered on the portal. To be a registered user, simply sign up on the portal (process explained in the next question).
The steps to generate a referral code are as follows.
STEP 1: Login in to the portal by clicking Log In button on the homepage.
NOTE:
It is not necessary for the user to be the Admin (as shown in the video) of the portal in order to generate the referral code. Code can be generated by anyone who has already signed up on the portal.
STEP 2: Click on the Profile Image, and under the dropdown menu, select My Profile option.
NOTE:
Admin Portal option shown in the menu would only be available to the portal Admins, and not to students.
STEP 3: On the MY Profile page, find Refer & Get Rewarded option on the side bar. Click it to reveal the referral code.
How to Use a Referral Code?
To use a referral code, the new user must provide it – during Sign Up, and during Check Out.
Using Referral Code During Sign Up
It is to be remembered that the student using the referral code must not be registered on the portal beforehand. In order to use the referral code during sign up, follow the steps below.
STEP 1: Visit the portal and search for the Sign Up button on top. Click on the button to visit the signup page.
STEP 2: Fill in the necessary information, and provide the referral code in the Referral Code box.
STEP 3: Click on Apply and the code would be applied.
STEP 4: Click on Sign Up option, a new screen would be presented.
STEP 5: An verification code or OTP would be sent on the E-Mail, and the Mobile Number used for registration. Enter the verification code/ OTP.
Using Referral Code During Check Out
Now that the new user Sign Up has been completed using the Referral Code. Both the new user & the one who generated the referral code are entitled to discounts on the purchase of a new package. To avail the discount they have to follow the steps below.
STEP 1: Login in to the portal by clicking Log In button on the homepage. (Click here to see how)
STEP 2: Click on the Profile Image, and under the dropdown menu, select My Profile option.
STEP 3: First time visitors would be asked to choose the exams they are preparing for.
STEP 4: Next, on the MY Profile page, find Refer & Get Rewarded option on the side bar. The referral code used during Sign Up would be displayed here. Copy the code to use in the next process.
STEP 5: Now select the exam package to be purchased, and proceed to check out.
STEP 6: In the Have a Coupon Code box paste the copied coupon code.
STEP 7: Proceed to the payment after availing the discount.
That was how Gibbon’s ‘Refer & Earn’ Add-On worked. As said before, the benefits of the Add-On can be pre-set to the client’s wish.
